GENERAL QUESTIONS
What is the Mariners broadcast footprint?
Seattle Mariners games are available to viewers throughout our five-state region of Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Montana, and portions of Idaho.
Can I stream Mariners games?
Yes. ROOT SPORTS Stream is the direct-to-consumer and TV Everywhere streaming app for ROOT SPORTS and features ROOT SPORTS’ live 24/7 channel, which provides access to Seattle Mariners games along with other Mariners-related content, plus on-demand content, including game highlights, game replays and more. ROOT SPORTS Stream is available via RootSportsStream.com, as well as on mobile/tablet devices and connected TV platforms.
ROOT SPORTS is also available on DIRECTV STREAM with the “CHOICE” or “ULTIMATE” packages and on fuboTV with the “STARTER” package.
Is there an additional cost to use ROOT SPORTS Stream via app or website?
That depends. There is no additional cost to those viewers who subscribe to a television provider or vMVPD which carries ROOT SPORTS and who has agreed to allow their customers access to the TV everywhere streaming service.
Fans who do not currently have a cable, satellite, or streaming service provider can subscribe to ROOT SPORTS Stream for $19.99/month with no long-term contract.
Can I stream Mariners games without being a paid telco, cable, satellite or vMVPD customer?
Yes. The ROOT SPORTS Stream app allows fans to access all ROOT SPORTS content including live Mariners games without having a cable or satellite provider. Fans can subscribe to ROOT SPORTS Stream directly for $19.99 per month.
Why won’t you allow streaming subscription providers to carry ROOT SPORTS?
ROOT SPORTS is available on DIRECTV STREAM, fuboTV, and ROOT SPORTS Stream. We would love to have our network carried by all of the streaming providers and be able to offer it to you as we do with all other providers. We continually try to engage these providers in conversations with the goal of having our network carried on them. So far, they have chosen not to carry us, or in most cases, a majority of other RSNs, but we will keep trying.
ROOT SPORTS is not unique in the lack of OTT options. While several streaming platforms claim to carry live sports, the reality is that they do not carry the local sports networks that you care about most, including ROOT SPORTS.
I have access to ROOT SPORTS through my provider, but I do not see them on the ROOT SPORTS Stream provider list. What can I do?
Some TV providers have not yet accepted our offer allowing their customers access to our TV Everywhere stream via the ROOT SPORTS Stream app or website. You may contact your telco, cable, satellite provider or vMVPD and request that they allow you access to stream ROOT SPORTS.
Can I stream Mariners games when I’m traveling?
Yes, your TV Everywhere or direct-to-consumer subscription to ROOT SPORTS Stream includes a thirty (30) day period in which you can view content outside of your Home Territory, but within the United States (“Couch Rights”). The thirty (30) day period will commence the first time you view content outside of your Home Territory. Once activated, Couch Rights will apply to any device you use to access content outside your Home Territory.
Is there an OTT/vMVPD option available where I live?
Yes, fans throughout the region can watch their favorite teams’ games with DIRECTV STREAM, fuboTV, and ROOT SPORTS Stream. ROOT SPORTS is available with the “CHOICE” or “ULTIMATE” packages, on fuboTV with the “STARTER” package, and on ROOT SPORTS Stream with a monthly subscription.
If you subscribe to another OTT provider and you would like to see ROOT SPORTS, please call them and request that they add the network to their channel line-up.
Am I able to watch the Mariners on MLB Extra Innings or on MLB.TV?
If you live within the team’s league-designated home television territory (WA, OR, AK, MT, ID), then you will not be able to watch Mariners games via MLB Extra Innings or MLB.TV.
TECHNICAL ISSUES
AUDIO AND VIDEO
How can I get ROOT SPORTS in HD from my television service provider?
Please contact your television service provider directly and let them know you’d like to receive ROOT SPORTS in HD. They can advise you on availability, as well as package and equipment requirements.
I am having audio and/or picture issues. How can I fix it?
If you have audio or picture issues, determine if this issue is present on other channels or only ROOT SPORTS. If present on other channels, please contact your cable, telco, satellite or vMVPD provider. If it is only on ROOT SPORTS, please contact us and we will respond during regular business hours.
My television broadcast is in Spanish and not English, or I cannot hear the broadcasters. How do I fix it?
Do you or have you ever applied the SAP (second audio program) audio channel on your TV or set-top box? This is found in the set-top box Main Menu à Setup à Setup Audio à Default Audio Track. The main track should be “English.”
Once you change the SAP to “off” or to “English,” you should be able to hear the broadcasters.
PROGRAMMING
How can I get Seattle Mariners and Utah Jazz live game broadcasts outside of ROOT SPORTS broadcast territory?
If you are outside of the team’s regional television territory, Mariners and Jazz games will be blacked out on ROOT SPORTS. Our distribution rights are only within the Mariners and Jazz regional television territory. Team territories are dictated by the leagues, not by regional sports networks. Each of the professional leagues set defined areas for each team, with some counties exclusive to that team and some counties shared with other teams.
Fans outside of the teams’ league-designated home television territory should look into MLB Extra Innings and NBA League Pass. These season-long packages include most of the games that are telecast on ROOT SPORTS. Please note some games may still be subject to blackouts. For more information, contact your television service provider.
I live in the ROOT SPORTS network territory and my television provider doesn’t offer ROOT SPORTS. What can I do?
Call, email or utilize your provider’s Facebook and other online communities to let them know you want ROOT SPORTS added to your channel line-up. You can also subscribe DIRECTV STREAM, fuboTV, or ROOT SPORTS Stream.
Can I request a copy of a game?
ROOT SPORTS cannot reproduce Seattle Mariners, Utah Jazz or any other games or provide clips from the telecasts due to copyright agreements with our team partners.
I produced a sports show. How can I get my show on your network?
ROOT SPORTS does have a limited amount of time made available to producers of sports shows with local interest. To have your show considered for telecast, please contact our Programming department at general@rootsportsnw.com.
Programming Issues:
If you have additional questions regarding programming, blackouts, or content issues, please contact your television service provider. If your issue cannot be resolved by your provider, please email us at general@rootsportsnw.com and we will respond during regular business hours.
