What is ROOT SPORTS Stream?
ROOT SPORTS Stream is the direct-to-consumer and TV Everywhere streaming app for ROOT SPORTS, available via https://RootSportsStream.com/, as well as on mobile/tablet devices and connected TV platforms. The App features ROOT SPORTS’ live 24/7 channel, which provides access to Seattle Mariners games along with other Mariners-related content, plus on-demand content, including game highlights, game replays and more!
If you have ROOT SPORTS as part of your existing TV package, you most likely already have access to ROOT SPORTS Stream!
It’s important to note that the availability of select programming may vary depending on your specific location within the ROOT SPORTS coverage area, which includes Washington, Oregon, Montana, Alaska and portions of Idaho.
A direct-to-consumer (DTC) subscription is a new way for in-market Mariners and Jazz fans to subscribe directly to ROOT SPORTS without needing a traditional cable, satellite or streaming provider. With a DTC subscription, in-market Seattle Mariners fans can begin streaming Mariners baseball now.

A direct-to-consumer (DTC) subscription is a way for in-market fans to subscribe directly to ROOT SPORTS without needing a traditional cable, satellite or streaming provider. With a direct-to-consumer (DTC) subscription, in-market fans can begin streaming now.

Why is today’s Mariners game not on ROOT SPORTS?
ROOT SPORTS has rights to all locally available regular season Seattle Mariners games. However, select games each season are chosen by Major League Baseball for exclusive national broadcasts and are not able to be aired, including games on ESPN (typically Sunday nights), Fox (typically Saturday nights), Apple TV (typically Fridays) and Peacock (typically Sunday mornings). ROOT SPORTS has no control over these selections, and they impact all 30 MLB teams.
What platforms and devices are ROOT SPORTS Stream available on?
ROOT SPORTS Stream is available via web browser at https://RootSportsStream.com/, as well as on mobile/tablet devices and connected TV platforms. See below for the current availability on specific platforms:

Why are certain events blacked out on ROOT SPORTS?
Certain programming and live events on ROOT SPORTS may not be available to all subscribers, depending on location. Additionally, certain live events may not be available for streaming due to league restrictions.
What does “In-Market” vs. “Out-of-Market” mean?
Per Major League Baseball (MLB) policy, ROOT SPORTS has the rights to broadcast and distribute Seattle Mariners games within the designated TV territory (“In-Market”) as determined by MLB, which includes the following areas:
- Washington
- Oregon
- Montana
- Alaska
- Portions of Idaho
To find out if you are currently in-market, visit ROOTSPORTS.com/provider-finder and enter your Zip Code (where you currently are). If you receive a list of available providers, that means you are within the market and should have access to ROOT SPORTS programming.
I live out-of-market, how can I watch Seattle Mariners games or other ROOT SPORTS programming?
Due to MLB territorial restrictions, live Mariners games will not be available out-of-market on ROOT SPORTS. Fans outside of the team’s league-designated home television territory (WA, OR, AK, MT, portions of ID) should look into MLB Extra Innings or MLB.TV.
Subscriptions to ROOT SPORTS Stream are only available in-market.
Can I use the ROOT SPORTS Stream App while traveling out-of-market?
Yes, your direct-to-consumer subscription includes a thirty (30) day period in which you can view content outside of your Home Territory, but within the United States (“Couch Rights”). The thirty (30) day period will commence the first time you view content outside of your Home Territory. Once activated, Couch Rights will apply to any device you use to access content outside your Home Territory.
If I miss a live Mariners game, can I watch it later?
Mariners games on ROOT SPORTS Stream are available on-demand beginning shortly after the conclusion of each game. Each game will be available on-demand until shortly before the start of the following Mariners game.
Re-airs of previously played games are only available in the on-demand library for 48 hours following the game or until the start of the next game, whichever comes first.
How many Mariners games are on ROOT SPORTS?
ROOT SPORTS broadcasts all regular season Mariners games, excluding select games chosen for exclusive national broadcasts.

Will Mariners playoff games be available on ROOT SPORTS Stream?
No. Major League Baseball (MLB) playoff games are not available to be broadcast on ROOT SPORTS Stream. Per league rules, all MLB playoff games will be available via MLB’s national broadcast partners.
What additional programming is on ROOT SPORTS?
In addition to live Mariners games, ROOT SPORTS carries other Mariners-related content, including pregame/postgame shows, classic games and more. Beyond the Seattle Mariners, ROOT SPORTS also has a broadcast partnership with the Utah Jazz in select markets.

Account Management FAQ
What is the difference between a direct-to-consumer (DTC) subscription account and a TV Everywhere (TVE) account?
TV Everywhere accounts are accessed through your cable, satellite, or streaming provider’s login, and give you access to ROOT SPORTS content without a paid subscription. Fans who don’t subscribe to a cable/satellite/streaming services can subscribe directly to ROOT SPORTS Stream without first purchasing a cable, satellite or streaming plan.
I already have ROOT SPORTS through my cable provider, do I need to purchase a direct-to-consumer subscription?
No. If you already have ROOT SPORTS through a cable, satellite or streaming TV provider, you can access ROOT SPORTS content by creating an account and logging in with your TV provider credentials. You will have access to the same content available to direct-to-consumer subscribers.
How do I subscribe to ROOT SPORTS Stream?
In-market users can purchase a direct-to-consumer subscription through https://RootSportsStream.com or the ROOT SPORTS Stream App.
Follow “Subscribe Now” instructions on your preferred platform to access ROOT SPORTS Stream. Once subscribed, you will be able to stream across all devices by logging in with your ROOT SPORTS Stream account.
Does it matter on what platform I subscribe to ROOT SPORTS Stream?
Direct-to-consumer (DTC) subscriptions can be purchased through https://RootSportsStream.com (“Web Purchase”) or the ROOT SPORTS Stream App (“In-App Purchase”).
Please note that In-App Purchases are processed through the respective App Store. For example, if you purchased through ROOT SPORTS Stream on your iPhone, any subscription changes need to be managed through your Apple account.
Will my direct-to-consumer subscription auto-renew?
Yes, your direct-to-consumer (DTC) subscription will automatically renew every month on the first day following the end of your current subscription period. To avoid automatic renewal, subscribers must cancel the subscription prior to their current subscription period end date. After cancellation, subscribers will still be able to watch for the remainder of the current subscription period.
Is my direct-to-consumer subscription valid across all devices?
Subscribers can access ROOT SPORTS Stream across all supported devices. Just sign in with your ROOT SPORTS Stream credentials and start watching!
How do I change my payment method?
To view or edit your payment method used to purchase a subscription, visit your account page at https://RootSportsStream.com (if you purchased through RootSportsStream.com) or update your payment settings within the respective App Store where you purchased your subscription.

- Visit https://RootSportsStream.com and sign in to your account.
- Click on the “Account” button at the top of the page, then select the “Subscriptions” menu item.
- Click on the “Manage Payment” button.
If you purchased your subscription on a mobile device or TV
Visit the respective app store to manage your subscription payment settings.
Can I pause my subscription?
You are not able to pause your subscription after purchasing.
How do I cancel my direct-to-consumer subscription?
You can cancel your direct-to-consumer (DTC) subscription at any time. The method of canceling depends on where you initially purchased the subscription. See below for how to cancel your subscription.
If you purchased your subscription by visiting https://RootSportsStream.com on your Internet browser
- Visit https://RootSportsStream.com and sign in to your account.
- Click on the “Account” button at the top of the page, then select the “Subscriptions” menu item.
- Select the “Cancel Subscription” button.
If you purchased your subscription on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV)
- Open the iOS App Store
- Click on your profile image in the top right corner and click “Subscriptions”
- Click ROOT SPORTS Stream and click “Cancel Subscription”
If you purchased your subscription on an Android device
- On your Android device, go to subscriptions in Google Play
- Select ROOT SPORTS Stream
- Tap cancel subscription and follow the instructions
If you purchased your subscription on an Amazon Fire device
- Open your Amazon account, go to “Your Memberships and Subscriptions”
- Select “Manage Subscription” next to ROOT SPORTS Stream
- Select “End Subscription” and confirm
If you purchased your subscription on a Roku device
On the Roku website
- Go to my.roku.com/subscriptions.
- Under Active subscriptions.
- Select Root Sports Stream.
- Select Manage subscription and then select Turn off auto-renew. Turning off auto-renew means you’ve canceled your subscription, and you will not be billed for it in the future.
- After canceling your subscription, you’ll continue to have access to it until the end of your current billing cycle.
On your Roku device
- Press the Home button on your Roku remote.
- From the Home screen, use the arrow buttons on your remote to hover over and ROOT SPORTS Stream.
- Press the Star button on your remote.
- Select Manage subscription to view the renewal date and access additional options. If you don’t see this option, your subscription is not managed through Roku.
- To cancel a subscription, select Turn off auto-renew. Your subscription will now only be active until the end of the current billing cycle.
How do I delete my account?
Deleting your account will erase your website and mobile app accounts, along with your username and password. Please be aware that doing so will unsubscribe you immediately from any further access to live and on-demand content on the ROOT SPORTS Stream App.
- Visit https://RootSportsStream.com and sign in to your account.
- Click on the “Account” button at the top of the page.
- Select the “Account Settings” menu item.
- Click on the “Delete Account” button at the bottom.
How do I reset the password on my account?
ROOT SPORTS Stream doesn’t use passwords – you either sign in with your 1) Apple ID, 2) Google account or 3) email address or mobile number with verification code.
How do I remove devices registered to my account?
- Visit https://RootSportsStream.com and sign in to your account.
- Open your Account by clicking on the person icon in the top right corner of the page, then select the “Account” menu item.
- Click on the “Device Management” button.
- Click on the small trash can icon on the device you wish to remove.
How do I request a refund?
Per the terms and conditions agreed to upon subscribing, all subscription payments are non-refundable. To ensure that you are not charged for future months, please cancel your subscription prior to the start of the next subscription period.
How do I change my email address on my account?
To change the email address on your account, please contact customer service at rss_support@rootsportsnw.com.
Support and Troubleshooting FAQ
Can I use the ROOT SPORTS Stream App while traveling out-of-market?
Yes, your direct-to-consumer subscription includes a thirty (30) day period in which you can view content outside of your Home Territory, but within the United States (“Couch Rights”). My app is saying I am out-of-market, but I am within the Mariners territory
Are you using a VPN? If so, it is likely to affect your access rights.
If you are experiencing issues confirm that you are currently located within the Seattle Mariners territory:
- Verify that you are currently within the Mariners television territory. To do so, visit http://ROOTSPORTS.com/provider-finder/ and enter your Zip Code (where you currently are). If you receive a list of available providers, that means you are within the market and should have access to ROOT SPORTS programming.
- Try to log out of the app, restart the app, and then log back in.
- If possible, check whether you can watch on any other devices.

You will be able to log back on from within the Mariners TV territory to restart your travel rights.

Can I use ROOT SPORTS Stream with a VPN?
No. VPN access to ROOT SPORTS Stream is not supported.
Is ROOT SPORTS Stream available without Wi-Fi on my mobile device?
ROOT SPORTS Stream can be accessed from any 4G, LTE, 5G, or higher high-speed Internet connection. Normal data rates apply.
To limit ROOT SPORTS app to only use WiFi
This will prevent the app from using cellular data, forcing it to use Wi-Fi when available.
On iPhone or iPad
- Go to your iPhone’s Settings App
- Scroll down and select “Apps”
- Find and select the “ROOT SPORTS” App
- Turn off the “Cellular Data” option.
On Android Phone or Tablet
Android devices vary significantly, so check your manufacturer’s instructions.
- Open the “Settings” app on your Android device.
- Tap on “Apps” or “Apps & notifications” (the exact wording might vary depending on your Android version and device manufacturer).
- You might see a list of apps directly or need to tap on “Manage apps” or a similar option to view the app list.
- Find the ROOT SPORTS app and tap on it.
- Look for an option like “Data usage,” “Network usage,” or “Data restrictions”.
- Tap on it and you should see options to control Wi-Fi and mobile data access.
- Uncheck the box next to “Allow mobile data”: to prevent the app from using cellular data.
I’m having trouble accessing the ROOT SPORTS Stream with my TV provider
If you currently have access to ROOT SPORTS through a cable, satellite or streaming provider, you should be able to sign in to ROOT SPORTS Stream when creating an account.
- First, go to https://RootSportsStream.com
- Click, Subscribe Now in the top right of the page.
- On the right side, under “Get Access” select “Continue to TV Providers”
- Complete the sign-up information on the left side – either entering an email address or signing in with Google or Apple.
- Choose your current cable, satellite, or streaming provider.
- Log in with your streaming provider credentials.
If you are receiving a message that you do not have access to your cable, satellite or streaming provider, please first contact your provider to confirm that you have ROOT SPORTS in your TV package or that they have signed up to provide their customers with access to ROOT SPORTS Stream. How do I turn on/off closed captioning?
Closed captioning for live programming can be toggled on/off. This varies by devices. Please see below for device-specific information.

How do I cast to my TV from my phone or tablet?
ROOT SPORTS Stream supports video casting. Additional information regarding screencasting is provided below. Please visit the manufacturer’s website for specific details on your respective device.
From Your Computer to Your Smart TV or Connected TV Device
- Ensure that your computer and AirPlay-compatible or Smart TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Compatible devices include Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV Stick, and most smart TVs.
- Press [Windows Key]-[K] key to bring up the connect panel for PCs. On Mac computers, select the screen mirror in your Apple control center.
- Select the device to cast to.
- Follow the on-screen instructions on both your TV and computer, which may include entering a passcode displayed on your TV.
- Go to https://RootSportsStream.com.
Note: Once connected on a Windows PC, you can adjust your connection type to single screen, duplicate and more to best suit your stream and network.
iPhone/iPad to a Smart TV/Roku/FireTV
- Ensure your iPhone and Apple TV/AirPlay-compatible smart TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the ROOT SPORTS Stream App and click Watch Now.
- Tap the AirPlay icon and choose your TV from the list.
- Follow the on-screen instructions on both your TV and iPhone, which may include entering an AirPlay passcode displayed on your TV.
Android Phone/Tablet to a Smart TV/Roku/FireTV
Due to the large number of Android devices with different user interfaces and support issues, we recommend reviewing your manufacturer’s screencasting instructions.
Note: Not all TVs and mobile devices are capable of screencasting. Check your device specifications on your manufacturer’s website for more info. If you are experiencing any issues, try 1) ensuring all devices have the latest updates, 2) restarting your mobile device, and 3) unplugging your TV and connected devices to reset them.
How many streams can I watch simultaneously?
You may have up to 3 simultaneous streams.
What if I am experiencing streaming issues?
Streaming issues may include frozen streams, audio sync issues, low resolution, macro-blocking (heavily pixelated/blocky sections of video), and video or audio dropouts. These may be caused by a variety of things:
- Home network or WiFi
- Internet providers
- Mobile data issues
- Unsupported or old devices
- Outdated software or firmware
- Service stability or outages
Here are some recommendations to try first that can resolve many of these issues. If they don’t, please contact ROOT SPORTS customer support at rss_support@rootsportsnw.com.
If you are streaming via RootSportsStream.com in an Internet browser
- First, please clear your cached data, cookies, and browsing history and try again.
- Restart your computer.
- Problems may be caused by a slow Internet connection or by competing downloads/streams from other devices on the same Internet connection, try a speed test at https://www.speedtest.net/ and then check with your Internet provider if the results are lower than expected.
- If problems persist after all of the above, please contact ROOT SPORTS customer support with your device information about the exact issues you are experiencing.
On Roku/Amazon Fire/Apple TV device
- Exit the ROOT SPORTS app and re-enter.
- Restart the device or SmartTV (if it’s built in) – unplug and plug back in the device if you don’t know how. Most Smart TVs only go to standby mode when you press the power button.
- Delete your App and re-download the App from the App.
- Problems may be caused by a slow Internet connection or by competing downloads/streams from other devices on the same Internet connection, try a speed test on another device on the same network at https://www.speedtest.net/ and then check with your Internet provider if the results are lower than expected.
- If problems persist after all the above, please reach out to ROOT SPORTS customer support with your device information and any screenshots (if possible) of the exact issues you are experiencing.
On a mobile device
- First, please exit and force close the App and re-start.
- Restart your device.
- Delete your App and re-download the App from the App Store to ensure you have the latest version.
- Check to make sure you are connected to WiFi. If you are, try switching off WiFi and forcing it to use your wireless plan (data rates may apply).
- Problems may be caused by a slow Internet connection or by competing downloads/streams from other devices on the same Internet connection, try a speed test on another device on the same network at https://www.speedtest.net/ and then check with your Internet provider if the results are lower than expected.
